As of this writing, it’s 16° F in the Houston area, and we hope everyone is warm, safe, and hopefully, has electricity.
This unusual, extreme winter storm gave us the rare opportunity to put the shop Cayenne Turbo to the snow test. As it turns out… wide, performance summer tires aren’t ideal.
But with over 500-horsepower and a wide runoff area, safely away from the streets, it is a lot of fun. These aren’t conditions Houstonians have to face everyday (thankfully), but it’s nice to know you could.
Porsche has a long history of ice racing, and a mastery of speed in wintry conditions.
The legendary Ice Race in Zell am See, Austria, was named in memory of Prof. Dr. h.c. Ferdinand Porsche himself from 1952-1974, and Porsche often sent a full team of ice racers, ranging from Porsche 356 Coupes, 550 Spyders, and 718 RSK Spyders to compete, with factory drivers at the wheel.
